The Project Garden Approach

A garden should be understood before it is changed—or automated

Project Garden begins by understanding the garden, the people who experience it and the natural conditions that shape it. Only then do we identify practical ways to care for, improve or manage the space.

Technology and machinery are tools within this approach. They do not lead it.

Nature’s Entertainment Space

Your garden is a living landscape that changes with light, weather and season. We think of it as Nature’s Entertainment Space: something to watch, experience and enjoy throughout the year — from inside the home as well as outside it.

Movement, colour, wildlife, weather and seasonal change provide the entertainment. Our job is not to manufacture the spectacle, but to help the garden reveal more of it.

Begin with Your Favourite Window

We start inside the home by asking which window gives you your favourite view. That view reveals what you already value and what may be missing. We then consider what you would like to notice throughout the year.

The Project Garden Method

  1. Look: begin with the important views and observe the garden.
  2. Understand: listen to the customer and read the landscape.
  3. Imagine: explore meaningful, practical possibilities.
  4. Improve: agree priorities and deliver in a sensible order.
  5. Enjoy: create more rewarding everyday experiences.
  6. Care: support the garden as it continues to develop.

Planting with Purpose

Planting should contribute to the use, feeling and resilience of the space. We consider colour, height, structure, texture, scent, flowering season, soil, shade, maintenance, water needs, wildlife value and the view from the house.

Managed Technology

Project Garden uses technology where it removes repetitive work or helps the garden perform more consistently. It should support good gardening rather than compensate for poor planting, unsuitable soil or an underlying problem.

Robotic mowing, intelligent watering and other systems therefore follow assessment of the garden rather than leading it. Human judgement remains responsible for the outcome.

People and Wildlife

A comfortable seating area can overlook pollinator planting. A hedge can provide privacy and shelter. A climate-ready border can offer colour while using water more responsibly. We seek a practical balance between human enjoyment and healthy living systems.

Helping You Continue

We explain what has been done, why choices were made, what seasonal care will be required and which warning signs to notice. The aim is to help you remain a confident custodian rather than becoming dependent on unexplained decisions or technology.

How the Five Services Work Together

  • Garden Care maintains and observes.
  • Garden Improvement restores and develops.
  • Hygge Gardens creates comfortable, purposeful spaces.
  • Climate-Ready Gardens improves resilience.
  • Smart Garden Care uses managed technology for suitable repetitive work.

Where Do We Begin?

You do not need to decide which Project Garden service you need. An introductory visit begins with your garden, the view that matters to you and what you would like to improve.
