February Lawn Care: How to Prepare Your Lawn for Spring
Your lawn may look quiet in February, but what you do now can make a huge difference to how it performs in spring and summer.
February lawn care essentials
1. Clear debris
Remove fallen leaves, sticks, and moss so the lawn can breathe and dry out.
2. Improve drainage
Spike compacted or waterlogged areas with a garden fork to prevent moss and root rot.
3. Repair damage
- Lift flattened grass caused by snow or heavy rain
- Reposition displaced turf edges if needed
4. Hold off on feeding
Avoid spring fertiliser until temperatures rise — feeding too early can weaken grass.
5. Plan spring treatments
February is ideal for booking scarifying, aeration, and overseeding for March/April.
If your lawn struggles every year, let Project Garden assess it now and schedule a spring renovation plan.
