What to Plant and Sow in February
February may feel early, but it’s actually a great month to start planting and sowing — especially under cover.
What to sow indoors or in a greenhouse
- Tomatoes, peppers, chillies
- Sweet peas
- Basil, parsley, coriander
- Early salad leaves
What to plant outdoors (weather permitting)
- Bare-root shrubs and hedging
- Garlic and shallots
- Early potatoes (in mild areas or containers)
Tips for success
- Use clean trays and fresh compost
- Provide plenty of light to avoid leggy seedlings
- Harden plants off slowly before moving outside
